Andhra Pradesh - District Entrepreneurship Mission

GAME’s District Entrepreneurship Mission (DEM) in Andhra Pradesh, is focused on building deep local networks and stakeholder trust.

The Andhra Pradesh Entrepreneurship Mission has made steady progress in laying its foundational groundwork. Research on the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem has offered critical insights into local opportunities and challenges. Learnings from the District Entrepreneurship model have been integrated into Vizag’s approach, ensuring that strategies are contextually relevant and aligned with proven best practices. This foundation sets the stage for building a sustainable, inclusive, and dynamic entrepreneurial environment in Vizag.

Led by our on-ground Andhra Pradesh Lead, the groundwork involves identifying ecosystem champions, onboarding key stakeholders, and mapping local opportunities to spark entrepreneurship-led growth.

Recently, DEM in Andhra Pradesh has entered a new chapter. In the presence of Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Government of India, GAME signed an MoU with the West Godavari District Administration to launch the West Godavari District Entrepreneurship Mission (WGDEM).

Building on the foundation laid by the Vizag DEM, WGDEM extends this district-anchored, ecosystem-based model to a second district, reflecting the state’s growing commitment to strengthening local enterprise ecosystems. Over the next five years, WGDEM aims to support 5,000 enterprises and enable 25,000 livelihoods, with a focused emphasis on women, youth, and rural communities, aligning future-ready skills (through the Cyient AI & Future Skills Hub at Digital Bhawan) with a proven district entrepreneurship framework.

Currently, we have working groups with local businesses, associations and institutions that focus on:

  • Agri Entrepreneurship
  • Aqua Entrepreneurship
  • Rural Entrepreneurship
  • Women Entrepreneurship
  • Youth Entrepreneurship
  • Scaling up of Existing Enterprises

These working groups have developed action plans and initiated pilot programs that address key systemic challenges from market access and value addition to digital enablement and skill building.

The Vizag Entrepreneurship Mission is co-anchored by the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) and is supported by institutions such as IIM Visakhapatnam, SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty) and AP Food Processing Society (APFPS), each playing a vital role in shaping the ecosystem. Together, we spearhead activities designed to strengthen the local entrepreneurship ecosystem for the district of Visakhapatnam.

Our pillars of DEM:

  • Coalition in Motion: In Vizag, a powerful coalition of leaders from TiE Vizag, IIM Vizag, RTIH, Schoolnet, leading banks, and local media now drives a unified entrepreneurship agenda. Monthly sprints translate shared intent into real execution.
  • Entrepreneurs Mobilized at Scale: Through our EUDR initiative: Over 1.2 lakh tribal coffee farmers in Paderu and Araku are being onboarded onto the India Coffee App for EUDR compliance, enabling them to meet global market standards by May 2026.
  • New Growth Pipelines Emerging: Pilot programs have been initiated focused on market access, value addition, digital enablement, and skill building. The EUDR coffee initiative, launched on November 1, 2025, at Dhimsa FPO in ASR District, represents a concrete pipeline for 1.8 lakh acres of coffee farms to connect with European buyers through geo-tagging, registration, and sustainability compliance.
  • A Culture of Aspiration Taking Root: Through partnerships with local media, success stories of ordinary entrepreneurs are being celebrated, making entrepreneurship desirable and proud once again.
